Oh, McDonald’s ice coffee, how loved you in the beginning when you were fresh and new…and tasted so fine. But now all you do is leave a bad taste in my mouth.

So…forget it. Never again will I get ice coffee from McDonald’s in Clayton, NC. I will risk life and limb to make a left turn into Dunkin’ Donuts on US 70 if need be. McDonald’s, your coffee tastes burnt, your employees don’t speak enough English to know what ‘light and sweet’ means, and when I sip my coffee before I leave your drive-through window and ask you to make it again because it tastes like shit (yes, we use the word shit on this blog), all your employees can do is make faces of disgust at me.

So I’m breaking up with you McDonald’s of Clayton. That goes for you too, McDonald’s of Smithfield, NC (all of you), McDonald’s of Garner and every other McDonald’s south of the Mason-Dixon line.

When I relocated to Clayton, NC from Connecticut, I knew I’d be sacrificing the love of my Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee since there’s only one DD that happens to be close to me. Now I KNOW where my true ice coffee love lives.

Sincerely,

Relocate Clayton

It’s time again for another Pure Romance by Pam event! This time, N & N Sports Bar & Grill in Smithfield is teaming up with Pure Romance By Pam to have a special event just for all the ladies in Relocate Clayton land! Pam will be demonstrating some of Pure Romance’s top quality line of romance and intimacy products in N & N’s private banquet room.

Note: The staff at Relocate Clayton have no knowledge of what this ‘demonstration’ involves.

Ladies will have a chance to look, touch, smell and taste everything and then shop privately in the store Pam brings with her. This event is for ladies only, 18 and older, please. The men are always welcome to send drinks in to the ladies (gee how nice) - but they will have to wait outside until after the demonstration is over. (Isn’t that always the way???) Men can join their lady friends afterwards to assist them in making purchase decisions and view some of the products if they like.

One lucky lady will be drawn to be the ‘mystery hostess’ and receive 10% of party sales in Pure Romance credit! Pam will also be drawing for a free gift! You may visit Pam’s website at www.pureromancebypam.com for more information or call 919-949-5208.

The staff of Relocate Clayton will be out of town that day and would appreciate some note-taking.

No, not YOUR anniversary - mine!

It was one year ago today that the Relocate Clayton staff (formerly known as the Oppressed Yankee staff) packed up their stuff and relocated to Clayton, NC in Johnston County.

In fact, one year ago today (or maybe it was tomorrow) we had snow. Remember that? The staff at Relocate Clayton is no longer strangers to phrases like ‘wintry mix’ and the sensationalist news-hype that drives fear into the hearts and minds of North Carolinians.

But I digress. It has been a great year. North Carolina IS a great state and Clayton/Johnston County is THE place to be. I know people who are looking forward to moving here, but are having trouble because the real estate market is a mess in the northeast. If timing is everything, then Relocate Clayton has it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the South is the new North.

In case you were wondering where Relocate Clayton is headquartered, we’re in the Clayton Pointe subdivision. I call it many other things though, like the Yankee Relocation Camp, Witness Protection and others. At least we have good neighbors to keep us company.

Drop us a line at Relocate Clayton and let us know what you want to see on the blog. Business profiles? Real estate? Politics? Ok, maybe not politics unless I’m making fun of a politician. Celebrity gossip? In fact, Tom Cruise sat down with the Relocate Clayton team a few days ago to discuss his ‘area’.

We get email at Relocate Clayton. Apparently we’re popular enough to get questions from people who simply want answers about Clayton, NC and the other fine towns in Johnston County.

Today’s question:

Dear Relocate Clayton,

I just moved to Clayton from outside Boston, MA, and I’m looking for something to do - maybe a team sport or even watching some sports live somewhere.

What do you suggest?

Tom M.

Dear Tom,

Er um, have you checked out the Clayton Parks and Rec Department? They have a ton of indoor and outdoor activities and they’re responsible for several parks in the area. They also put on youth, and some adult, sports programs. Call the Clayton, NC Parks and Recreation Department at (919) 553-1550. Tell them Relocate Clayton sent you. They’ll wonder what the heck you’re talking about.

If you want to get back to nature, try Clemmons Educational State Forest. Not only will you get to meet a real live Park Ranger, you can do some hiking and picknicing. Get some friends together (if you have friends…I don’t know Tom that well) and try some group camping. You need to make reservations for this though. You cal call (919) 553-5651 for more info.

Coincidentally, the state forest is located near the site of the former Crazy Horse. So if you could get to Crazy Horse, you can get to the state forest.

Oh, and if you golf, there are plenty of places to golf. I don’t have time to golf, but my neighbor (pronounced Nay-Bah) is a member at The Neuse. He says it rocks if you’re looking for some place that’s not pretentious as all heck. I’m not saying other places like Pine Hollow and Riverwood are pretentiuous…my Nay-Bah simply hasn’t golfed there.

In terms of teams sports, Clayton isn’t that far from the MudCats minor league baseball team. For other outdoor activities, try Jordan Lake, Falls Lake, Harris Lake, Kerr Lake, and Relocate Clayton Lake. Ok, don’t try the last one, it’s actually just some standing water I have in my yard.
Thanks.

The Staff at Relocate Clayton

Johnston County employers can now post positions effectively and affordably. Job seekers in Johnston County can view and apply to jobs at no cost.

Clayton, NC — December 26, 2007

• Jason Pedley, a freelance copywriter and resident of Clayton, North Carolina has announced the launch of the Clayton and Johnston County Job Board (relocateclayton.jobamatic.com), a unique employment site that allows job seekers to find jobs in Johnston County and allows employers in the area to post employment ads for job-seekers to see and apply to.

• The Clayton Job Board offers a convenient and affordable method for employee recruitment. Pedley has partnered with Simply Hired and Job-a-Matic to provide this service and is offering an introductory rate to area employers who post open positions.

• Employers who post to the Johnston County Job Board are given a secure login that allows them to post, edit and delete positions at any time as well as accept resumes and application from candidates who apply via the site. Employers can also see the number of times their ad has been viewed and applied to.

• The Johnston County Job Board is seen by over 200 individual visitors per month and is a part of the newly created, but not yet publicized Relocate Clayton blog – the #1 Resource for info about moving to Clayton, NC and Johnston County.

• People looking for jobs in Johnston County will be able to view local job openings and apply at no cost.

• The Johnston County Job Board is aimed at people looking for jobs in towns within Johnston County including Clayton NC, Smithfield NC, Benson NC, Selma NC, Four Oaks NC and Garner NC.

Quotes attributable to Jason Pedley, creator of the Johnston County Job Board:• “When I was relocating to Clayton, North Carolina from Connecticut, I searched through thousands of jobs just to find relevant jobs in the Clayton, NC area, and in the industry I wanted. With the Johnston County Job Board, the jobs are right there…relevant and local.”

• “With Johnston County’s unemployment rate around the 4% mark, there are still employable people out there looking for decent work. This job board can be accessed from any public library or home computer with Internet access.”

• “Even larger employers in Johnston County such as the Johnston County School District, Talecris Biotheraputics and Johnston County’s government can find local, qualified candidates by posting to the Johnston County Job Board.”

Please email press@jasonpedley.com to arrange an interview and/or for additional quotes.

About Jason Pedley:
After watching the value of his Connecticut home increase 82% over five years and feeling the financial pain of his rising taxes, electric bill and oil bill, Jason Pedley moved to North Carolina to be with the rest of the smart Yankees. A freelance copywriter by trade, Pedley serves clients all over the United States and Canada.
