Governor Perdue, Unable to Jump Start NC Economy, Asks Billy Graham for Help, Prayer

On May 24, 2010, North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue made a quick trip on company taxpayer time to visit reverend Billy Graham at his home in Montreat, NC for a little prayer and advice on how to lead the state during a recession.

According to official accounts a press release from the Governor’s office, the two spent time in Graham’s living room discussing the economy and the challenges of perdue-grahamgoverning the state during difficult economic times. Apparently they also discussed how a prayer would solve all of our economic woes, as the Governor proceeded asked Graham about his plans for another crusade before the two prayed together for North Carolina’s recovery from the recession.

Not wanting the Governor to feel that her trip was a total waste of time, Graham posed for one picture and then brought out the big guns – an extra-special super-duper prayer that Governor Perdue would receive guidance (the source of the guidance wasn’t mentioned in the press release) as she works to lead North Carolina through these turbulent times.

Also, no timeline for the prayer’s fruition was noted. Only Governor Perdue and Graham knows when the recession will be over.

“For many years, Billy Graham has been our nation’s spiritual leader. North Carolina is lucky to call him own of our own,” said Perdue.

She followed up with “I’m thankful for our time together and his words of support. I also want to thank Rev. Graham for his prayers for North Carolina’s swift economic recovery.”
