The North Carolina Sweet Potato Commission is holding its second-annual Sassy Sweets Bloggers’ Sweet Potato Recipe Challenge. The Challenge invites food bloggers to think outside the Thanksgiving box and enter a unique, delicious sweet potato recipe for a chance to win big.
I know, you’re sitting there thinking “why enter?”, right? Well, get this – The NC Sweet Potato Commissions has $2,000 for the winning creation, plus $400 for each of three runners-up. Not only could you walk away with some money, your one-of-a-kind winning recipe will be listed in the www.ncsweetpotatoes.com hall of fame along with other recipe contest winners from the past. Plus, the commission will show off your gold medal recipe and blog – giving you plenty of valuable exposure to food bloggers everywhere – on Sweet Bytes, the North Carolina SweetPotato Commission’s own blog.
Ok, so now that you’re interested in winning a cash prize, here’s what you need to do…
● CREATE your own original recipe using sweet potatoes (duh) as the main ingredient in a quick-to-make everyday family meal. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack ideas are all welcome, as long as they can be put together quickly enough to join the family at mealtime. Hints: The contest judges are looking for something new and unique. Think beyond the typical recipes (that means your sweet potato casserole recipe probably won’t win) and come up with a way to put sweet potatoes on the table in new and different ways.
● POST your recipe on your blog any time from February 22 through March 29. (Only blog content managers age 18 or older living in the U.S. can enter.) Your recipe must be posted within these dates to be eligible. Use your blog to fill us in on your entire sweet potato creative experience, from entering the contest to your recipe’s inspiration.
● ENTER by e-mailing your recipe to: sassysweets@lewis-neale.com (Lewis&Neale is the Sweet Potato Commission’s marketing agency), any time between February 22 through March 29, 2010 along with your name, blog URL, e-mail address, mailing address, telephone number(s)* and a brief note about where you heard about the contest. Make sure your email includes the link to your recipe.
● WHO’S JUDGING? A group of real pros. They’ll be looking for taste, ease of preparation and most creative use of sweet potatoes. Six final recipes will be selected, and testing will take place April 5-9. On April 9, the Sweet Potato Commission will announce the winner and three runners-up. All of the final recipes will be posted on www.ncsweetpotatoes.com, the Commission’s website.
So what are you waiting for? Sweet Potatoes are affordable and fun to cook with – so be creative and get your entry posted in time to win!
