My Conversation With Senator Rouzer About Taxes

Senator Rouzer called me back yesterday, and my conversation was surprisingly pleasant. That means I behaved on the phone with him. I had called him for some clarification on his stance on taxes and to tell him how certain sections of SB202 effect me and my family’s ability to send income tax to Raleigh in April. I also spoke with him about the #ncaffiliatetax.

Sen. Rouzer explained his stance on taxes to me. Of, course, I’ll be paraphrasing here, but you’ll get the general idea:

  • Overall, Senator Rouzer believes the taxes we send to Raleigh must be used more efficiently and effectively.
  • He disagrees with special tax breaks companies are getting.
  • He is opposed to any raised or new taxes until the government of North Carolina gets control of its spending.
  • Sen. Rouzer would like to see legislation that limits spending to the rate of growth here in North Carolina.

It seems like Senator Rouzer is on our side here in Johnston County. I told him how new and raised taxes will hurt me and he seemed very understanding. I told him we moved here to get AWAY from taxes, and that a tax increase is the last thing we need – especially with 11% unemployment.

Concerned about new taxes? Want the NC government to fix it’s own spending habits before they come to the Bank of NC Residents to steal our money. Call Senator Rouzer’s office right now and tell him why raising your taxes will hurt you:
